Summary
G.C&C aims to encourage Kyushu University students to participate in international business and project contests, compete on a global standard, confirm their own position, and help them acquire the ability to carry out projects from a more global perspective.
As a first step to achieve the above, the program aims to lower the barriers to the rest of the world by participating in Startup Weekend events held outside of Japan, which are global entrepreneurship experience events, through English-language pitches and team communication.
If adopted
- You can get subsidies for participation fees such as contests, transportation expenses, prototype production expenses, etc.
- Mentoring by QREC faculty is available as needed!
- You can receive advice from working adults recognized by QREC faculty as mentors!
- Participate in overseas business competitions and acquire the ability to carry out projects from a global perspective!
- QREC facilitiesAccess to QREC facilities (meeting space and workshops)!
Eligibility for Application
- In principle, teams should consist of undergraduate and graduate students of Kyushu University.
Precautions
- QREC faculty may allow working professionals who are approved as mentors to participate.
- Multiple applications by the same representative are not allowed. However, it is possible for one project representative to be a member of another project.

Application Guidelines
Eligible Contests
Contests eligible for participation are as follows
- However, QREC will consider whether or not to include the contest in the next round of QREC participation, even if it is not included in the list of eligible participants.
- For domestic contests, the degree of internationality will be taken into consideration, for example, by conducting presentations in English.
- Participation in simple contests, whether domestic or international, that merely involve participation and pitching, will be excluded for the time being.

- South by Southwest (SXSW)
- Microsoft Imagine Cup
- ACM-ICPC: International Collegiate Programming Contest sponsored by ACM (Association for Computing Machinery)
- IEEEXtreme IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of America) programming contest
- iGEM (The international Genetically Engineered Machine: A competition in the field of biology in which devices are developed by combining biological parts and compete for their social significance and usefulness)
Precautions
- If the competition is an overseas competition after a domestic competition, the grant budget may be divided. Please keep in mind that this will be after the screening process.
Call for Projects
Must be a technology seed or business idea originating from Kyushu University.
- However, the topic of your graduation thesis, master’s thesis, or doctoral dissertation must be approved by your academic advisor, and you must inform QREC of this fact.

Subsidy amount
Subsidies are provided for participation in contests, etc., travel expenses, prototyping expenses, etc.
- It is paid in accordance with Kyushu University’s accounting rules. It is not a lump-sum cash payment.

How to apply
Download the application form and required documents, fill in the required fields, and apply using the application form.
Please note that if the target contest has the prescribed documents, please download Form 1 for General A; if not, please download Form 2 for General B.
For General A, please prepare an electronic file (PDF) of the eligible contest application documents, as they are also required at the time of entry.
Application Deadline
Deadlines are the end of June, September, December, and March of the following year.
Examination
Applications are accepted every quarter of each fiscal year and reviewed individually by QREC.
The application will be reviewed by QREC based on the submitted documents, and acceptance or rejection will be decided within one month after the application deadline.
- In some cases, you may be asked to submit a prototype for presentation or contest purposes.
Remarks
The contestants will be required to report on their participation in the contest, submit a written report of their achievements, and present their results at the results presentation.
