Frequently Asked Questions
Subjects
What are QREC subjects?
Courses that can be taken for credit as regular courses and are offered or recommended by QREC, and can be taken as a minor by students throughout the university. Students from all faculties and grades can take these courses together, which are different from the core education and specialized courses. QREC’s educational program aims to “encourage all Kyushu University students to think and act with entrepreneurship,” and is characterized by its many student-participatory classes that are conducted not only through classroom lectures but also through workshops. For details, please refer to the Features and Curriculum.
I want to take a course, but I don’t know when and where to register.
There are two types of course registration periods: one for courses that follow the KIKAN education schedule, and another for courses with rolling admissions. You can register for courses via Campusmate-J, Moodle, or the QREC website. For information on the registration status of QREC courses, please refer to the “Registration Process” section.
I have registered for a course, but it is not reflected in campusmate.
Please note that courses registered through the QREC website (Google Forms) cannot be confirmed on the student portal system immediately after registration. They will be reflected in the student portal system (Campusmate-J) after the cancellation period.
I would like to attend as an auditing student.
If you wish to attend lectures without receiving credit, please notify the instructor in charge of each subject or staff★qrec.kyushu-u.ac.jp.

What level of English proficiency is required for the English course?
If you can speak everyday English, you should be able to take the course without any problems. An attitude of trying to communicate is more important than accurate English.
Is it possible to drop a course?
For courses subject to the deadlines set by the Office of KIKAN education, please submit a request directly to the Office of General Education using the designated method during the course modification or withdrawal period. (This applies only to elective courses or required elective courses.)
For intensive courses that accept applications on a rolling basis, please submit a withdrawal request during the withdrawal period designated by QREC prior to the start of the course. (Withdrawals will not be accepted after the withdrawal period has ended.)
You can also check the withdrawal period and other details in the Course Registration Process.
Procedures for Public Absences
After applying to the Educational Records and Programs Section and receiving the Confirmation of Absence form, please send it to your instructor or to staff★qrec.kyushu-u.ac.jp. The form will be handed to the faculty member in charge.

I am a graduate student. If I take QREC courses, how will my credits be handled?
Among the QREC courses, there are 10 courses offered as Graduate School Core Education Courses and Development Courses each year.
For details, please refer to the list of Graduate School Core Courses (List of Courses).
For the handling of credits, please refer to ” Graduate School Core Education Courses (Handling of Credits).
Other QREC courses (Comprehensive Courses and Advanced Core Courses) can also be taken, but they are not included in the credits for graduation requirements. Since the handling of credits differs depending on where you are enrolled, please inquire with the Academic Affairs Section of each graduate school.
About S.I.P.
I’m not sure if I can (or should) apply with this kind of idea.
