Summary
A year-long, university-wide project to promote student ideas and research with the help of a grant.
Challenge & Creation (C&C) is a university-wide program that supports the realization of unique ideas and research projects by Kyushu University students under the theme “Let’s create a wind of challenge and creativity from the campus.” It has become a symbolic educational project that demonstrates the uniqueness of Kyushu University.
Individuals or student groups will have their ideas and research plans reviewed and selected based on novelty, social impact, and other criteria. Selected teams will receive up to 500,000 yen in funding to realize their plans. After about one year, the results are reviewed and the best teams are awarded prizes.
This project is supported by the Kyushu University Foundation.
If adopted
- You can receive up to 500,000 yen in grants per project!
- QREC facilities(meeting space and workshop) are available for meetings with team members, work, etc!
- If you have any problems while proceeding with your project, you can receive mentoring from QREC faculty!
- Opportunities to interact with students from different faculties and departments!
- Get advice from external judges (VCs, entrepreneurs, etc.)!
- The winning team will receive an award from the Chancellor and have the opportunity to meet with him!
Eligibility for Application
- The project must be composed of graduate or undergraduate students of Kyushu University.
- The theme must be one that you have thought of yourself. You do not have to stick to your major field of study.
- The topics of the thesis, master’s thesis, and doctoral dissertation are not subject to review.
- If you wish to apply for a theme related to the research content of your laboratory, please obtain prior confirmation from your academic advisor before submitting your application.
Precautions
- Continuing projects may apply up to a second time.
- Multiple projects with the same representative are not allowed. However, a representative from one project can be a member of another project.
- Incorporated projects are not eligible to apply.
- Students on leave of absence are not eligible to participate.

Application Guidelines
Call for Projects
Please feel free to set your own theme based on your own interests and awareness of the issues. We expect research and practical projects with originality, sociality, and interdisciplinary characteristics, such as international exchange, environmental, medical, and welfare issues, and community development.
Subsidy amount
Up to 500,000 yen per case
- It is paid in accordance with Kyushu University’s accounting rules. It is not a lump-sum cash payment.
- This project is supported by the Kyushu University Foundation.

Examination
The jury will consist of QREC faculty and outside experts, and will judge each project based on the presentation and Q&A session.
Remarks
- You are required to submit a report of research results.
- The Chancellor’s Award is given to projects that have achieved outstanding results.
