I want to further develop my research!

I belong to the Synthetic Biology Laboratory at Kyushu University. In this field, the goal is to mass-produce extremely useful substances such as raw materials for pharmaceuticals and biofuels using genetically modified E. coli bacteria.
I found out about this recruitment around April 2022, and decided to apply, thinking strongly, ”I want to use this grant to further develop my research!” in order to advance research in a better direction, we believe that it is necessary to flexibly change initial goals and plans based on research results and considerations as the research progresses. Even when I encountered many challenges and problems in the process, the financial support from everyone at QREC enabled me to think flexibly and actively take on challenges to achieve my goals. It was thanks to the generous support of QREC that I was able to continue my research activities as I wanted for a long period of one year. Also, this is a little off-topic, but you can learn things like ”how to write grant applications and how to use your budget” from this experience, so I highly recommend you give it a try! Finally, I would like to thank everyone at QREC for supporting me and my research over the long period of one year.

Through Challenge & Creation (C&C), we were able to systematically learn the perspective of how to connect research results to business and the basic knowledge and thinking required for startups.
It was very meaningful to experience the process of objectively reviewing and fleshing out my own ideas not only through lectures but also through mentoring and individual advice.
I also felt that the multifaceted support, including financial support, created an environment in which researchers could take on new challenges with peace of mind.
This is a valuable opportunity for researchers interested in entrepreneurship to receive support in both learning and practice.
