The opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and put it into practice by participating in QREC subjects and projects will surely enable everyone to ”see the scenery we have seen up until now” from a different perspective. .
This is because QREC’s teachers, instructors, supportive staff, and students all come from a variety of backgrounds, and we are able to interact with people who have different perspectives from our own, regardless of faculty, graduate school, nationality, gender, age, etc. Because QREC provides an environment that allows us to transcend and learn from each other. Learning about entrepreneurship is by no means a necessary skill for only those who want to or are interested in starting a business. I feel that these skills are necessary for students who will continue to work with society both now and in the future.
I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to be selected as one of the first Kyusoukai students. Kyusoukai is a place where you can grow as a person and as an entrepreneur. Through my mentoring with Kyusoukai members and my involvement with selected Kyusoukai students, I not only had the opportunity to think about how we can move forward together with society through business from a long-term perspective, but also I learned that it is possible to continue to grow even further.
By participating in QREC subjects, projects, and events, I not only learn a lot from the people involved, but also meet important people who inspire me and help me improve.
Students, please take part in QREC subjects and projects and learn a lot about entrepreneurship!

When we think of starting a business, we often think of facing challenges and obstacles. Many students, including myself, initially thought, ”There’s no need for me to take such a class since I’m not thinking about starting a business at the moment.” However, my strong curiosity led me to luckily connect with the field of entrepreneurship. A class called ”Introduction to Entrepreneurship” that I took in my first year was my first introduction to the unknown field of entrepreneurship. There, I found myself fascinated by the vast amount of knowledge behind entrepreneurship. There are so many unknown areas waiting for us. For example, there are many areas such as strategic marketing, business judgment, risk management, etc. I also believe that the vast amount of knowledge behind starting a business can be applied not only to companies, but also to individuals to some extent. For example, SWOT analysis, which is often used to formulate a group’s growth strategy and analyze competitors, can also be applied to individuals to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. I believe that the knowledge and ideas I have accumulated regarding entrepreneurship during my university days will definitely point me towards a long path of self-improvement. Finally, I would like to thank all the teachers at QREC for providing such wonderful and valuable lectures and programs.

I believe that “Entrepreneurship” is the best way to solve social problems. It is not just a course of action to make a monetary profit, but it can create larger social impacts. We only need to change our minds and vision to use it for the social benefits rather than the personal. I am very passionate about entrepreneurship.
When I came to Kyushu University and joined an engineering school, I was miserable. I thought that I had lost the chance to study more about entrepreneurship and missed the opportunity to engage myself in entrepreneurial activities. After 1 or 2 months, I noticed that there is an amazing center at the university, which is “QREC”. I felt that I had found what I was looking for. I tried to engage myself in all possible programs in QREC.
I received tremendous support from them to move forward with my entrepreneurial dream. I perceive, it is just the beginning, and I want to continue my engagement with QREC now and in my future journey as well.
I aspire to be a successful social entrepreneur and a proud alumnus of QREC, Kyushu University.

I became interested in QREC because I wanted to have a different experience, and I was able to absorb a lot of things over the past year.
Many of QREC’s classes are active and practical, allowing you to learn in a homely atmosphere. Additionally, the students are from a wide range of ages, and there are many international students, so you can gain knowledge in a variety of fields through dialogue. QSHOP in particular faced many challenges, such as running the company, but thanks to the kindness of the teachers and other participants who listened to me, no matter how small, I was able to complete the project with a positive attitude. In addition, I was able to learn about the weight of responsibility and management through practical experience, and I was also able to learn about my own weaknesses and how society works.
You may be nervous when you hear the terms QREC and entrepreneurship, but regardless of whether you have the intention of starting a business or not, this content is sure to provide meaningful results in your career choices. I myself am still undecided about my future, but I would like to continue to deepen my practical learning at QREC and expand my horizons by connecting myself and society.

I belong to the Synthetic Biology Laboratory at Kyushu University. In this field, the goal is to mass-produce extremely useful substances such as raw materials for pharmaceuticals and biofuels using genetically modified E. coli bacteria.
I found out about this recruitment around April 2022, and decided to apply, thinking strongly, ”I want to use this grant to further develop my research!” in order to advance research in a better direction, we believe that it is necessary to flexibly change initial goals and plans based on research results and considerations as the research progresses. Even when I encountered many challenges and problems in the process, the financial support from everyone at QREC enabled me to think flexibly and actively take on challenges to achieve my goals. It was thanks to the generous support of QREC that I was able to continue my research activities as I wanted for a long period of one year. Also, this is a little off-topic, but you can learn things like ”how to write grant applications and how to use your budget” from this experience, so I highly recommend you give it a try! Finally, I would like to thank everyone at QREC for supporting me and my research over the long period of one year.

Where you can try out your ideas

I wanted to study something other than the mechanical engineering course, so I enrolled in the technology marketing game course. The teachers were kind, and many of the students who took the course were also highly motivated.
Courses like QREC’s New Business Creation and Bootcamp helped me turn my ideas into a more practical form.
For me, QREC is a place that accepts new ideas, and I think you could call it a sandbox where you can try out ideas. I think that is QREC’s selling point.
I am applying what I have learned from the QREC program to my real life. If you have never taken a course at QREC, we recommend the following lectures:
1. New business creation
2. Technology marketing game
3. Global Seminar(English)

Entrepreneurship is also necessary for engineers.
The reason I took the QREC course was when I came across an article in which the president of Toyota said, ”The engineering department cannot communicate.” When he asked the reason for creating dull-colored cars, the reason was that the engineers could only talk about statistical results and could not explain the strategic background. I realized that I couldn’t become an engineer who can communicate with management unless I had the perspective of an entrée.
The lectures are practical and allow you to gain experience in understanding ⇒ ideation ⇒ presentation ⇒ execution. Because you can experience the entire process of creating an idea and realizing it, the hurdles to taking on new challenges will be lowered and you will be able to actively take on new challenges. The Global Seminar allows you to view failure in a positive light, and the Technology Marketing Game allows you to grasp the overall picture of management as if you were competing for stock prices.
With the challenge that I gained at QREC, I took on challenges such as C&C, NASA design competition, Fukuoka Smart City Award, and Advanced Information Engineer Examination in addition to my research. It was an important experience with both failures and successes. Also, during my job search, I was able to receive unofficial offers from companies such as Mitsubishi Research Institute, Sony Corporation, and Accenture. We will create a society that reduces human misfortune through policies that combine technology and management perspectives.
QREC lectures are an extremely valuable opportunity to gain a manager’s perspective, lower the hurdles to taking on challenges, and enable you to take on a variety of challenges. Please actively participate in QREC’s lectures and acquire the power to achieve your life’s goals!

When I was in my first year, I happened to take QREC’s ”Introduction to Entrepreneurship” course, which I happened to hear was easy, and that’s how I learned about the world of entrepreneurship and startups for the first time. This class changed my university life into something completely different.
QREC offers many courses, but even if you are unable to attend the entire intensive lecture on Saturdays and Sundays, they are flexible enough to allow you to attend the lecture, and they offer courses such as ”En-career” (abbreviation for entrepreneurship and career design). Many of the courses are held at times that would not overlap with other classes, so there are many opportunities to learn. Also, in QREC classes, there are many opportunities to interact with people from other faculties and other universities, and it is also a place where you can meet interesting university students who are doing something new. In fact, I am still connected and meet up with people from other universities who I teamed up with at Entrepreneurship Bootcamp. At QREC, we not only have lecture-style classes, but we also hold workshops and training sessions where you can actually conduct market research, create prototypes, and discuss with your team what you have learned in the lectures. There are quite a few. Also, the teachers are very supportive, and I think QREC has the best environment for people who have a clear idea of what they want to do. Even if you are not sure what you want to do, I think you will be able to get a hint of what you want to do through the stimulation and meeting a variety of people at QREC.

It all started when I happened to learn about a lecture on “Entrepreneurship Career Design” when I was in my first year. At first, I took it out of curiosity, but I found it interesting that the class format was different from a typical lecture format, and included a workshop-like format, and the student committee invited lecturers to design the classes. There were so many things that drew me in. The Japanese translation of the word “entrepreneurship” is “entrepreneurial spirit,” and QREC’s courses are recommended not only for those who aim to start a business, but also for those who do not want to start a business. There are many subjects available. I believe that the way of thinking required when starting a business is something that you will need no matter what career you pursue, so if you are even slightly interested, please register for the course! By the way, my recommended subject is Entrepreneurship Career Design, which I became a student committee member for in 2023!

I wanted to learn about data science quickly, so I took “Practical introduction to Data Science” in my first year. In a total of 8 classes, I was able to learn everything from the basics to practice, and was able to grasp the overall picture of data science. Knowing at least one programming language will help you jump on the bandwagon that data science is attracting attention.
Also, after interning at a VC company, I had many opportunities to think about ways to expand my business, and although you can acquire knowledge on the internet and in books, I wanted to learn it systematically, so I decided to study entrepreneurship and strategy theory. I am taking the “Basic” course. Each class is a lot of fun because the lecture format is based on actual company data and considers the strategies of each company. It is recommended for those who are interested in starting a business, as you will be able to acquire skills that will be useful when thinking about a business plan.

I joined QREC because I wanted to do something new with my remaining year of college life after my job search was over.
I feel that I have learned the following two points in particular through the activities of QREC.
・That there are many things that can only be understood by trying.
There are many barriers before an idea can take shape. It is important to give shape to ideas as quickly as possible, even on a small scale, through trial and error.
・To increase opportunities by taking lots of action.
Participating in the Co-creation Practice with Industry on Ideathon / Hackathon gave me the chance to join Accela. I also went to BasE (QREC’s co-working space), where I met people who were also committed to something, helped each other, and shared motivation.
Recommended subjects are output-based programs.
QSHOP allows you to experience making money on your own. Accelerator allows you to experience the process of starting a business based on technology. Hackathon exercises allow you to experience turning your ideas into products.
If you are wondering whether to join QREC at all, please join us! You will learn and meet many things that you cannot get in your regular classes or daily life!

QREC is a dojo to test your abilities. I’m late to introduce myself. I am Riki Yamagami, a.k.a. Ricky. Let me quickly tell you about QREC. In a word, it is a dojo where you can test your mettle. You have thought about what you want to do or what you are interested in, but you don’t know what to do. QREC is the dojo for you. Why dojo? You need to actively communicate with professors, students, external lecturers, and staff members to create your ideas. QREC will do its best to support you from the initial action until you give shape to your idea. Well, of course, there are those who do nothing. People who do nothing are what is commonly called “conscious people,” and I personally dislike them. Well, I am not so smart as to create a company as a 20th birthday present to myself. If you are interested in what I am doing at the company, please search for Riki Yamagami on Facebook and contact me. Finally, there are some pretty sophisticated and interesting students lurking in the QREC community, as well as in our classes. We invite you to take a look into QREC’s classes and community as well.
